Here is the latest in the world of Instagram that will you streamline your content marketing workflow. If you're looking to be more efficient with Instagram and drive a better outcome, check out the platform's latest updates that will help you manage and publish your content.
Post to Instagram from Desktop - if you're anything like me, I prefer to get all aspects of my work done on a desktop or laptop. That means that when it came to posting, sharing or communicating on Instagram, I've had to access the platform from the phone. Well hallelujah, because just two months ago, Instagram finally made Instagram's publishing feature available via a desktop browser! It is still rolling out bit by bit but you can now publish a feed post including images and video. Now for whatever reason, the desktop isn't working for you, you can also publish via Facebook Business Suite, the Creator Studio or via third-party tools such as Later.
Create and Edit Instagram Stories Drafts - with this new feature, you can now plan, collaborate and publish Stories content easily. Remember though that when you're saving your draft that the content will only be available for 7 days and that any changes you make to the original version will always be saved over. Again, if collaborating becomes challenging because you have multiple team members or users, use a third-party tool to help make it easier.
Use Link Stickers to Drive Website Traffic for Instagram Stories - For a long time, only profiles with a minimum of 10,000 Instagram followers would qualify for the swipe-up option. Until now! It's not exactly a swipe-up but it's still a direct link that will take the user to a website - using stickers. And the best news is that you don't need to be a verified account either. This feature has the ability to create a great impact for your brand as it can increase your website's traffic with an easy to read CTA sticker like "Swipe Up to Buy". One more thing to note if you're using this feature to drive traffic to your website. Make sure that the landing page is mobile-friendly and that the user experience is great. If you want your user to take action, then you need to ensure that you make it as simple as possible for them to do so.
Use Auto Captions to Instagram Feed - Captions is highly important for your video content because it helps improve accessibility for those times the sound is off. It has also proven to increase engagement because you've made it more accessible. Furthermore, adding captions just helps with the clarification of your message. In 2020, Instagram offered the automated subtitles for IGTV which was specifically for longer-form content pieces. Earlier this year, they launched another feature allowing you to turn on captions using a sticker. That all meant that you no longer had to transcribe your videos word-for-word or require an editor to do it for you. Very soon, you can add captions to your feed posts too so stay tuned for more updates on when it's official!
Toggle Between Instagram Accounts - On a daily basis, if you find yourself having to switch between your business profile and your personal account, Instagram has simplified the process. On the bottom right-hand corner of your screen, your profile icon will appear. To flick to another account, just tap the icon and you're instantly there! No more errors or delays in posting between each account - yay!
So that's it, five new Instagram features that will speed up the process and make life a little easier for you and your team. We're certain that the folks at Instagram are working hard every day to optimise the functions and features for all their users so keep your eyes and ears peeled because there'll be more greatness to come from this awesome platform.
